When, What, Where?
On Saturday April 27th, 2019. The start of Oxfam Peacewalker is at 8h00 in the morning at Peace Village, and the finish at the latest at 18h00 in the centre of Mesen.
Oxfam Peacewalker is a unique team challenge (for friends, family and colleagues) that has as its goal the fight against the injustice of poverty.
The challenge is to walk 42 kilometres in teams of four in less than 10 hours. Additionally, each team has to raise at least 750 euros for Oxfam projects worldwide.
In Messines (Mesen), a small town in West Flanders, and its surroundings, including the city of Ypres.
Millions of citizens and soldiers came to their end during the First World War. Through this challenge and with the aid of our partners, the Province of West Flanders and Peace Village, Oxfam-Solidarity would like to commemorate the victims of this conflict. This is in line with Oxfam’s efforts against injustice, poverty and armed conflicts. Anybody can do one’s bit for this challenge as a walker, supporter or volunteer.
Peace Village is an international rural hostel that opened its doors in 2006. It puts a special emphasis on the commemoration of the First World War and Peace Education.
On April 27th, 2019 Peace Village will be the central meeting point of Oxfam Peacewalker.
